Good news! Everything is fully drafted!! All 13 episodes!!! HOORAH!!!!
It all started over a year ago for me when I jumped on this project. It's funny looking back now how far it has gotten from such a small project to a really big one in such a short time. Having turned the project into a 13-part episodic series during late August to early September was a bit of a stretch at first, but through perseverence, we made this work to our advantage. Over five months down the track, with every day spent conceptualising, idealising, using every bit of brainpower we had, Steve and I went through blood, sweat, and tears to write out this project (plus losing some sleep every now and then).
Originally, we had written up the first six episodes of the series, having drafted them a few times over and over again when we still conceptualised the ideas, BUT, it was until somewhere in mid-January that we had to race against the clock. We both decided that we needed to collaborate and co-write the series every day, even if it was only for a few hours at a time in order to fully draft everything. Needless to say, placing ourselves in self-house-arrest did lock us out of social life in general. We were living in caves.
Through the heat of summer, the unexpected raining torrents, and the occasional chance of hail, we trudged through every character, every plot, every arc, every event, every fight sequence... OH THE FIGHT SEQUENCES! We made sure that everything was set. No plotholes, no weak developments, everything! We spared no expense in our creativity.
BUT AGAIN, with only five minutes to spare before midnight today, both Steve and I had written the last words of the final episode.
YES!
We had completed the first drafting of the series! Most of our brainpower may have disintegrated overtime, but now we can both relax that we had plotted almost every detail into this project. Now, I can focus on other aspects of the project, like some good character design maps, an ACTUAL geographical understanding, and continue some other projects I started in-between, and probably create some new ones too. (I, however, must remind myself not to get too carried away).
Still... I've started editing through hard copies of the series, just to be the perfectionist that I am, over a week ago and have made it to Episode 8...
Five more episode reads to go...
