DTRII? Not anymore.
No, I don't mean that in a bad way. After a very good two-three week string of meetings, brainstorms and whatnot. DTRII is finally getting to a good place, granted that it's been one heck of a ride. A few posts back, I remember mentioning a new clean slate? Well, we came to that conclusion and this series has seperated itself from the first series of Downtown Rumble. Still, it has its undertones and its inspirations from the first series, but while we're aiming this at 8-12 year old boys, there's not much to do but give it a new slate to work on. We say farewell to the title of Downtown Rumble II (now that it's no longer a sequel. Apologies to any fans from the first series out there) and we introduce you all to:
RUMBLE HIGH
We've already put together a drafted pitch, and it's just now a matter of time before we receive any feedback to work more on it again. Thus ends the cycle... for now. Ever since then it's been kind of dull on the writing front.
Have I been entertaining myself?
Yes I have. I've finally indulged myself into a film and musical theatre. I watched The Surrogates and Avenue Q. Two different sides of a spectrum I'm sure. The Surrogates was an okay film. I was expecting a bit more action, but it turned out to be more like conspiratorial drama. Maybe a mesh of Noir-ish elements with an action base? It does make you think about what can be possible and the scary things behind it. Avenue Q on the other hand was hilarious! Granted that they were making fun of outrageous themes and issues. All I know is that I will never look at a muppet the same way again... ever.
Life in general?
I've been out and about for the past week. I've celebrated a friend's late birthday with dinner at Medusa, some arcade games and a visit to Chocolateria San Churro in Parramatta. My gosh! The Raspberry Rumba was delicious. I'm one for white chocolate. And I miss churros! But I guess chocolate will be far from my mind after that night.
And hey! Boring stint earlier today? I decided to get back to some artsy stuff after a while of NOT doing anything productive on that front. I remembered an old piece of art I did as part of the SHOUT IT OUT project that was circling at the time. (Unless you're a deviant member on deviantArt, you probably wouldn't know what I'm talking about). So I decided to redo it. It's been two years on, and reading through, some things I still feel strongly about, while others had been added on. Looking at it, there's less here than my original piece. Does that mean I've got less things on my chest now?
